Robert Salcido is a social justice advocate and activist at the local, state, and national level. He has extensive experience working with issues of equity, diversity and inclusion, LGBTQ+ education, and nondiscrimination.
Professionally, Salcido is the Statewide Field Coordinator with Equality Texas, the states leading advocacy group that works to secure full equality for LGBTQ Texans. He also serves as the volunteer executive director and board chair for The Center - Pride Center San Antonio.
Currently, he is an Interdisciplinary Research Leaders fellow led by the University of Minnesota and supported by the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation. He’s also a past fellow with Freedom For All Americans LGBT-University and the Victory Fund’s Victory Empowerment Institute.
Known for building allies, coalition partnerships, and his bridge-building capabilities, he was appointed to the San Antonio Mayor’s LGBT Advisory Committee and the Mayor’s Police-Community Relations Council from 2015-2017. He has also served on the leadership teams of the Community Alliance for a United San Antonio, San Antonio LGBT Chamber of Commerce and is a founding member and immediate past president of Orgullo de San Antonio LGBTQ LULAC Council 22198.
He has been recognized numerous times over the years for his work in the community, to include being awarded Public Citizen of the Year by the National Association of Social Workers Texas in 2016 and Texas Diversity Council’s Leadership Award in 2018.
